About Us
Hi, I'm Josh. Roses are my passion — and this little nursery grew straight out of it.
It started, as these things tend to, with a single rose: my first David Austin. I planted it, watched it bloom, and that was that — I couldn't stop. One rose became a collection, and collecting became a genuine fascination with the roses that truly belong here: Australian-bred, heritage and old-world varieties, and above all, roses that are hardy in our climate.
Preserving roses worth keeping
These days I propagate cuttings of heritage, old-world and rare Australian roses — partly to do my small part in preserving them, and partly so other people can grow them too. Many of these varieties are quietly slipping out of cultivation; getting them into gardens is how they survive. In time, I hope to offer roses I've grown and propagated right here.
Australian-bred, heritage & David Austin
I focus on three families of rose: the tough, sun-loving Australian-bred classics (the Alister Clark roses and their kin), the fragrant old heritage roses grown for centuries, and David Austin English roses — and as an authorised stockist, I list the David Austins by their proper registered variety names. They're the roses with character, and the ones that genuinely thrive where we live.
A front yard full of roses
Home base is a front yard bordered with roses in Bomaderry, on the NSW South Coast. This is a side passion run with care rather than at scale — which is exactly why every rose here is chosen, not just stocked.
What I hope you'll feel
When you buy a rose from me, I don't want you to feel you've been fobbed off a generic plant from a rack. I want you to feel you're getting something special — a rose with a story, suited to where we live, and chosen because it's genuinely worth growing.
Thanks for being here. If you're after a particular variety, or you'd like a hand choosing one for your spot, just get in touch — I'm always happy to talk roses.
